About
our Church
Antioch Telugu Baptist Church (ATBC) located at 2788 Wolf Road, North
Lake, Illinois, was planted
on October 13, 1991. The Church includes a core group of members from
different denominational backgrounds
which consists of Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Wesleyan, Pentecostal
and Hebron, migrated from India. The Church takes pride as the first
Telugu Baptist Church planted in USA through the American Baptist
churches of USA and having it’s affiliation with the American
Baptist Churches of USA nationally and regionally with American Baptist
Churches of Metro Chicago. The culture of the congregation is embedded
in the rich Indian Christian heritage. At ATBC we cater the spiritual
needs of 3 generations segmented by the age groups of 60’s,
40’s and 20’s and lower.
Antioch Telugu Baptist church is dedicated to minister the Word of God
to the Indian Community with the increased sensitivity to the needs of
the Telugu Christian in Chicago and Suburban areas.
Our purpose is to provide Christian fellowship to the cross section of
Indians, to foster closer ties with Christians around Greater Chicago
and suburbs and to introduce to our children and youth the Christian
values and the tradition of worship.
Our thoughts turn in with deep appreciation and gratitude to the
unwavering commitment and dedication of our members who lit the torch
of Antioch Telugu Baptist Church that seeks to foster a much more
dynamic relationship with the Telugu speaking Christians not only from
Chicago but extended to the neighboring state Wisconsin. Antioch Telugu
Baptist Church is blessed with highly talented Indian classical
musicians and singers. We have performed several Gospel musical
concerts for God’s glory. Last year we have performed
‘Andhra Christian Hymnal’ concert. We have fostered
the
rich Indian heritage and demonstrated the Gospel interpretation through
the classical typical Indian cultural settings like dramas, skits and
Burrakatha.
If we examine the brief record of Antioch Telugu Baptist church, since
its inception, we had more than 25 baptisms and several child
dedication ceremonies took place. We thank God for our pastor Rev.
Dr. David Sagar who is a spirit filled, seasoned and dedicated pastor. |
